Filming and photography costs
We have a wealth of unique locations available for hire. If you are looking to film the next Oscar winning blockbuster or need a backdrop for a television documentary, our estate provides filmmakers with a diverse range of locations.
To film on our land, we require a minimum of 3 weeks’ notice, applications can take up to 12 weeks to process.
We look at requests for media enquiries or interview requests on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our press office for any media enquiries or interview requests.
The press office is open during office hours, evenings and on weekends.

Feature films
Less than £2million production budget
If it involves less than 100 cast and crew, costs are:
- £1,600 for filming
- £800 preparation
- £800 strike (clear up)
If it involves more than 100 people, the price would be subject to commercial negotiation.
More than £2million production budget
If it involves less than 100 cast and crew and/or lasts three days or less, costs are:
- £2,000 for filming
- £1,000 preparation
- £1,000 strike (clear up)
If it involves a greater number of cast and crew and /or lasts for four days or more, the price would be subject to commercial negotiation. We may be able to reduce our fee if the filming brings benefits to the environment, such as habitat improvement.
TV dramas
A UK network or limited series with less than £2million production budget
If it involves less than 50 cast and crew and / or takes place over three days or less, costs are:
- £1,600 filming
- £800 set up
- £800 for strike (clear up)
An international, studio or syndicated drama with more than £2million production budget
If it involves less 50 cast and crew and / or lasts three days or less:
- £2,000 (filming)
- £1,000 set up
- £1000 for strike (clear up)
If it involves a greater number of cast and crew and /or lasts for four days or more, the price would be subject to commercial negotiation. We may be able to reduce our fee if the filming brings benefits to the environment, such as habitat improvement.
TV commercial
For any number of people per day costs are:
- £3,000 for filming
- £1,000 set up
- £1,000 strike (clear up)
Photoshoot
If it involves less than ten people, costs are £500 per half day.
If it involves more than ten people, the price would be subject to commercial negotiation.
Documentaries
If the filming or photography covers environmental issues that are part of our remit e.g., nature conservation work, habitat restoration work, flooding work etc. and involves ten people or less, we charge a £50 one-off administrative fee.
If the filming or photography covers environmental issues that are not part of our remit and involves ten people or less, costs are £300 per half day.
Student or course-related filming
There is no charge for students who are filming as part of their course.
Small independent productions
For a cast and crew of up to ten people, we charge £200 a day.
Community groups
We charge £200 a day if your cast and crew is more than fifteen people. If it’s fewer than 15 people, we charge a one-off administrative fee of £50.
How we calculate costs
All prices exclude VAT.
Our cost per day is based on our regular working hours from 9am to 5pm.
We include an admin fee unless we state otherwise.
Our staff time
We charge £250 per half day for our staff time. This includes time required for ‘recces’ and any monitoring.
Local site conditions
You must follow local site rules and conditions. These conditions can include damage to Sites of Special Scientific Interest. These local site conditions will be subject to your location filming agreement.
How long it takes to process requests
We process all applications in-line with our standard timescales.
If you need a fast turnaround with your application, we may add a 5-10% surcharge. The price would be subject to commercial negotiation.
Sustainable production principles
You must work in accordance with the Sustainable Production Principles and hold a BAFTA Albert Certification. You must make sure an Environmental Management System is in place that is proportionate to the scale of your operation.
If these are not in place, we reserve the right to add a 5-10% surcharge. The price would be subject to commercial negotiation.
