What we do

Natural Resources Wales is the largest Welsh Government Sponsored Body - employing 1,900 staff across Wales with a budget of £180 million. We were formed in April 2013.

Our marine work

As champion of the natural environment in Wales, we want to make sure that we have clean, healthy, productive and safe seas full of wildlife.

We are responsible for the 12 nautical miles from the coastline. This area of 15,000 square kilometres (5,800 square miles) nearly doubles the size of Wales!

Our marine teams work with a wide range of partners across Wales to maintain the health of marine and coastal environments.

Their work benefits communities and industries which depend upon these marine and coastal environments.
