Apprenticeships, volunteering, work experience and other placements

Placement benefits

We have a range of placement opportunities to enable you to promote the sustainable management, benefits and value of natural resources and ecosystems.

You'll be assigned a placement manager who will oversee your work programme. They'll also carry out risk assessments to protect your health and safety.

You'll receive an induction and training, and ongoing support.

When your paid placement has ended you can request a reference from us. You can supplement any factual reference we give with your completed performance development plan.

For unpaid placements, we would not provide a reference, but your completed work programme can be used to demonstrate your achievements.

Find out what current placements we have on offer below.

Apprenticeships

You can gain a recognised qualification and essential skills with one of our apprenticeships.

Placements last up to 100 weeks with study time (days or blocks) and are open to 16 year olds and over.

If you already hold a qualification at the same level or above, you will not be eligible to apply.

Apprenticeships are paid at Grade 2

It may be carried out as part of your studies or to develop research, practical skills and experience.

Research placements can range from 5 days to 12 months.

Work placements

If you're 16 and over and out of work or training, a work placement could help you gain experience to increase your employability.

Paid placements with external funding

Suitable for individuals who are eligible under the specific scheme criteria. Work placements last from 5 days to 6 weeks.
