The Natural Resource Wales Board has the following committees: 

Audit and Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC)

ARAC is a standing committee of the Board. Its principal role is to advise the Board and to support the Accounting Officer on matters of risk, financial stewardship and accountability, control and governance.

Karen Balmer is the Interim Chair of ARAC

People and Remuneration Committee (PaRC)

PaRC is a standing committee of the Board. It considers matters relating to the pay and conditions of employment of our most senior staff and the overall pay strategy for all staff employed by Natural Resources Wales.

Julia Cherrett is the Interim Chair of PaRC

Protected Areas Committee (PAC)

The main Board has delegated its statutory responsibilities in relation to objections to the notification and de-notification of Sites of Special Scientific Interest to the Protected Areas Committee. The Committee will also support the Executive and full Board by providing advice on wider protected area issues and strategic casework; and provide a focal point for Board discussions on matters relating to protected areas including their role in mainstreaming the ecosystem approach.

Flood Risk Management Committee (FRMC)

This Advisory Group, although not a standing committee of the main Board, fulfils a number of statutory flood risk management functions of Natural Resources Wales in accordance with Section 106 of the Water Resources Act 1991.

The Chairman is independently appointed by Welsh Ministers. The Advisory Group members are appointed either by Welsh Ministers or by Natural Resources Wales.

Finance Committee (FC)

FC is a standing committee of the Board. Its principal role is to advise the Board and to support the Accounting Officer on financial management reporting, business planning and performance reporting, charge scheme and commercial matters.

Evidence Advisory Committee (EAC)

This Advisory Group, although not a standing committee of the main board, is responsible for providing independent advice, challenge and review for NRW evidence activities. The Committee provides advice to the Board and to NRW more widely on the acquisition, quality, interpretation and use of evidence, particularly in areas of controversy or complexity.
